Our Approach

Our packages will determine which approach will deliver the best outcome, depending on the child or young persons personality, interests and needs.

Play therapy

Play therapy gives space for young people to express their emotions and feelings through play.

This can be done in a an open space or in the comfort of a recognised room. Understanding the importance of communication can unpack certain emotions and feelings for a child or young person, which will enable them to gain support and explore their emotions safely. Play therapy will help build on a child’s resilience, emotional regulation, and confidence, which will later impact their mental wellbeing for the better. Being able to observe a young person or child through play will help understand their needs and feelings clearer, and ultimately lead to a better support package.

Behaviour therapy

Understanding that a child’s behaviour could be modified and encouraged through praise and merit will support the child or young person to make positive choices and changes and reduce any behaviours that are undesirable.

Behaviour therapy could be provided in every day situations such as shopping, hair cuts, and other social settings to encourage positive behaviours that are socially acceptable. When praising a child or young person it allows them to gain gratification and ultimately will lead to them continuing positive behaviours and choices.

Person-centered therapy (humanistic therapy)

This therapy understands that a child or young person are the best resource for understanding them selves. Being a supportive role to the child or young person will provide them with an emotional connection to dig deeper into their thoughts and feelings. A child or young person being able to look within and reflect on their wellbeing will encourage meaningful outcomes that overall positively impacts their self worth.

Humanistic therapy will encourage the child or young person to learn coping strategies that meets their own needs and can be used in every day life.

Group therapy

Group therapy will support a child within a group by encouraging them with social, emotional and communication development.

Understanding that not all children or young people will be comfortable being in a group setting, it is important to recognise whether this is something that will benefit the individual. If this is a therapy strategy that could potentially benefit a child or young person it will encourage self esteem, confidence and communication skills. Group therapy could be arranged within a fun setting to bring out feelings of excitement which will encourage the children or young people to express their emotions with one another.
